World Leprosy Day 2025: Karuna Project’s Awareness Initiative
On January 30th, World Leprosy Day was marked by the Karuna Project of the Stepping Stone Charitable Society, which organized a comprehensive Leprosy Awareness Drive aimed at Chief Health Officers, ASHA health workers, and their supervisors. This initiative focused on identifying new leprosy cases, recognizing the symptoms, and ensuring timely reporting to Primary Health Centers.
In collaboration with the Taluka Health Officer of Bhiwandi Taluka, Thane, the program witnessed active participation from over 500 health workers and health center staff. This event underscored a strong collective commitment to creating a leprosy-free nation.
The awareness drive aims to educate communities and health workers about the disease, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection and treatment, ultimately working towards reducing the stigma associated with leprosy and improving healthcare responses.
