People that are affected by leprosy are extremely vulnerable to Coronavirus, because of an already weakened immune system, open sores, and deep-rooted prejudices. Important preventive measures like personal hygiene, social distancing in a crowded community, and good nutrition are all major challenges for them.
However, the Karuna Project Team has ensured that these essential needs are met in a timely manner right at the onset of the lockdown. By offering face masks, ulcer care kits, medicines, groceries, soaps, and cleaning materials. Teaching them preventive steps that they could take to stay safe and stay healthy.
